Are design services right for you? On this page, I’m answering my most frequently asked questions.

Tell me more about pricing…

There is a flat project fee (no hourly pricing) due at the start of the project. Pricing will depend on…

  • Room/space size
  • What is needed of the space
  • If you’re working with existing pieces vs starting from scratch
  • Are you looking for a a consult, full designs, and/or an in-home install/styling day?
  • Project prices do not include furniture or decor – project fee is solely for the design and any install/styling days (if applicable).

But I have an open-concept home…

Perfect! I can assist with making sure your open spaces all pull together and flow nicely. Although the spaces are open, each “defined space” will be priced as a separate room due to the scope of work required for each. Your living room furniture won’t work in your dining room, and you don’t put a dining table in your living room, therefore, they are priced as separate spaces.

I want quality pieces but I’m working with a tight budget…

Having a budget is completely fine and it is still possible to get the home/design you’re looking for without breaking the bank. With that being said, furniture and decor can get pricy. You cannot expect to furnish your living room with Crate & Barrel, Arhaus, and Lulu & Georgia pieces with a budget of $2k. High quality, solid wood, and upholstery are going to cost more than ready-made, MDF, veneer pieces. There are many “look for less” or “saver” options that can be used to achieve the look you want, however it is important to know that these pieces are not going to be of the same quality as a “splurge” piece. I will always work within your budget to help put your vision to real life.

It’s important to ask yourself…

  • What piece are most important to you?
  • What are you willing to splurge on?
  • What pieces do you want to have for a long-time?
  • Are there pieces you frequently find yourself swapping or changing?

Starts at $600

The Blank Slate

This package is for those who plan on starting fresh within an entire room or space. This includes full furnishing and styling (along with window treatments, paint, accent walls if applicable to project scope).

I’m not local. Is e-design for me?

E-design is a great way to execute your space at your own pace for a fraction of the cost of a full service design studio.

E-design includes a 3D floor plan (if applicable to scope) which will show your space and furniture layout to-scale. You’ll receive design boards showing different aspects of your room or space to help you execute the project, and a product list with links and discounted pricing.

The e-design client should feel comfortable taking their own photos and measurements of their rooms/spaces and existing furniture (if incorporating/applicable) for the design & floor planner.

This client should also feel comfortable in executing the designs on their own (all styling is shown on design boards and is easy to follow).

What does an in-home consult look like?

In in-home consult can range anywhere from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the project scope. There is a $250 non-refundable consult/travel fee applied to the visit. We will meet in your home to go over your needs, goals, likes/dislikes, budget, and more. I will take all necessary measurements and photos to complete the project. I will also have you review swatches (upholstery, wood, stone, curtains, etc) and paint samples (if applicable) to get a better understanding of your likes/dislikes. Once the project fee is due, $100 of the consult/travel fee will be applied to the total. You’ll receive the finished project documents via email to review.

Please note, the in-home consult fee does not include an install or “styling” day. That is priced separately if requested based on the scope of the project.

How do I take advantage of the furniture/product discounts?

Every product list comes with the retail pricing and discounted pricing. To receive the discounted prices, the client will order through and receive an invoice from Lauren Hansen Home. All invoices must be paid in full before orders are placed. Discounts do not stack on top of any sale or promotional pricing a retailer may be offering (however, if an item is on sale and less than the trade discount, the lower price will be the final price).

You are welcome to send a list, highlight the product list document, or we can set up a call to go over your order. There are no transferrable discounts codes that can be used to receive trade pricing. You will receive an itemized invoice via Quickbooks and can pay by ACH transfer (no fee), credit card (3% processing fee applied), or Venmo/Zelle (no fee, but daily limits may apply).

Sales tax and shipping fees are set by the state/retailer, are non-negotiable, and non-refundable.

After orders are placded, the client will receive a Google Sheets doc to help track all products with shipping estimates.

When is the project fee due?

All project fees are due in full PRIOR to starting. Many, many hours go into each project and due to the nature of supplying the finished product, full payment is due prior to the start.

Project fees can be paid by ACH transfer (no fee), credit card (3% processing fee applied), or Venmo/Zelle (no fee, but daily limits may apply).

All project fees are final and non-refundable.

Project fees do not include furniture or decor.

What do the timelines look like?

Timelines will vary based on the scope of your project. Typically for e-design, smaller areas may take only 1 week whereas larger projects may take up to 4 weeks. This is to receive the design boards, links, and floor plans ONLY, not the furniture itself.

Product orders will vary by stock/warehouse/retailer.

What if there is something I want to change from the initial design plan? Are revisions allowed?

With each package, 1 revision is allowed per room/space. Anything past the 1st revision will incur a $350 fee per room/space.

What does an in-home styling/install day look like?

An install or styling day can be purchased in addition to your project fee and includes a day of room setup, full styling, and packaging removal.

This day can be scheduled once all items from your order have been delivered.

You also have the option to have all items delivered to your home or have them stored and delivered at once.

Pricing is based on project scope, location, delivery and storage fees (if applicable).

Please note that this day does not include any contractor work such as plumbing, electrical, painting, etc. Lauren Hanse Home, LLC does not supply, oversee, or take responsibility for any outside contractor work.

What if I receive an item and don’t like it? Can I return it?

Items listed as “FINAL SALE” or “CUSTOM UPHOLSTERY – FINAL SALE” cannot be returned or exchanged per retailer policy (exception for damaged goods). For all other items, return policies will match their retailer return policy and no exceptions will be made. Please note, return shipping and/or restocking fees may be applied per retailer policy and will be deducted from your return. Original shipping fees are non-refundable. Items may or may not be able to be returned in-person to a brick and mortar store and will be handled on a case-by-case basis per store policies.

What if I receive damaged furniture or goods?

All packages and deliveries need to be assessed in a timely manner (usually within 1 day).

Damaged goods or furniture need to be reported immediately with photos to returns@laurenhansenhome.com to ensure a replacement or refund is implemented.

If any scheduled or white glove deliveries are refused at the time of delivery and taken away with the delivery team, the team must be notified immediately (same day) at returns@laurenhansehome.com.
