30A, Florida: A Complete Travel Guide

TRAVEL
Our 30A Complete Travel Guide
Earlier this month, we finally had the opportunity to take an extended trip down to 30A with our family, after purchasing our beach condo last summer. When we first purchased our condo, we focused on refreshing the space and making it a place that both we would love, and also all of our renters. You can see a full tour of our space here, or book your stay here!
After spending a little over a week in 30A, I’ve accumulated a list of favorites that I wanted to share with all of you. Everything from restaurants to shops, entertainment, beaches, and more. One thing that I always want to reiterate is that 30A is both a relaxing place for adults, but it’s also extremely family friendly! Trevor and I love it, and our boys do too!
In general, 30A is a very active community with a lot of trails for hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, and more! The highway itself is very scenic, with each town (there’s a ton) along the highway having it’s own vibe and charm. You can rent bikes, golf carts, or mokes at so many different places, and it’s such a fun way to get around as a group.
Our beach condo is located in Inlet Beach, Florida—which you can see is near the bottom on the map! In addition to the local surroundings near our condo, Seaside, Rosemary Beach, and Alys’ Beach have been our three favorite stops along the highway—and probably most recognizable, too! Keep reading below for a full guide of our recommendations!
Inlet Beach, Florida
As mentioned, our beach condo is located in Inlet Beach, right at the bottom of the 30A Highway! It truly has been a dream spot, and we have found that it’s very relaxing and calm, while still being family-friendly and close to everything we need! Right across the street from our rental is The Big Chill on 30A, otherwise known as The Hub30A! This has been one of our favorite spots to go to as a family, because they truly have everything!
The Big Chill on 30A: A vibrant, family-friendly outdoor-and-indoor gathering spot along 30A. It includes green lawns, covered patios, a stage, and a massive 25-foot Jumbotron for movies and sporting events. There are more than six casual eateries and two full-service bars, all gathered around a central courtyard. Seasonally, they will have nightly live music, DJ sets, movie nights, and sports screenings on the Jumbotron. They also have a ton of family-friendly features such as play areas, face painting, arts & crafts, yoga sculpt, farmer’s markets and more!
We were able to try many of the local eateries and breweries while in 30A, and they were all great family friendly options. A few of our favorites that we visited many times include:
- Duos – Classic American bites (hot dogs, burgers, fries)
- Local Smoke – Slow-cooked Southern-style BBQ
- Mile Marker 15 – Tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and more
- Nectar – Coffee, breakfast items, smoothies
- Additional food options: pizza, seafood, BBQ, ice cream, snowballs
In addition, there is a lot of new retail shops for cute shopping— including clothing, gifts, kids, toys, HomeGoods, etc! A few favorites that I stopped in (some multiple times) include:
- High Tide
- Coast Kids
- Coast 30A
- Palms
- Yellow Fly Trading
- 30A General Store
- Fiddle Haus
Old Florida Fish House: Located just west of our rental, this is a great spot for hanging out, dinner, coffee, drinks, watching the sunset, etc! It’s a large property with a hang out area, bags games, place for kids to run. They have little boutiques for kids and adults, and an ice cream shop, as well as coffee shop & bar. Must check out while in FL! Mostly all outdoors, limited indoor seating!

Seaside, Florida
Seaside is just a short 10 minute drive down the highway (from our rental in Inlet Beach)! Whether you take the golf cart or car, there are parking lots available for both with free and paid parking options. It’s a VERY family-friendly / kid-friendly spot with large field areas for the kids to run and play, in addition to daily/weekly events such as movies in the park, live music, kids bands, yoga, etc! Beach access is paid within Seaside (renting chairs and umbrellas), but always free to access for the sunsets—it’s a gorgeous spot to run around and do photos! A must-see is the classic US Post Office, which is always decorated during the holidays, too!
In terms of restaurants, Seaside has a ton to offer! We were able to try out many spots and got great recommendations from locals as well. I’m including a list of favorites below along with some of our favorite dishes at each, if you’re wanting to plan your trip around a few stops to eat, which I know we all do:
Airstream Walk-Ups (picnic benches/tables open to eat at):
- Meltdown on 30A: Gourmet grilled‑cheese specialist, serving both classic and creative sandwiches (think meatloaf melt, pimento cheese, brie & bacon) along with comforting soups and chips.
- Barefoot BBQ: A fusion of Southern, Caribbean & Texas-style barbecue. Their hormone-free meats, ribs, brisket sandwiches, and sides like mac & cheese and baked beans have made them a local favorite.
- Frost Bites: Seaside’s original Airstream food truck! Hawaiian shaved ice with ultra-fine texture, plus frozen custard, cream sauces, and over 30 flavors to choose from.
- Wild Bill’s Beach Dogs: Premium hot-dogs from grass-fed and family-farmed meats. They offer gourmet toppings and flavors like Chicago-style or spicy chili—our kids LOVE Wild Bill’s.
- Crêpes du Soleil: French-style sweet & savory crêpes (Nutella, bananas foster, cordon bleu) plus frozen cocktails like Frosé — even gluten-free batter is available!
- Mr. Gyro Hero: Mediterranean stall with made-to-order gyros, falafel, kabobs, Greek salads, and a variety of hummus – family-run since 2009.
Sit Down Style or Order & Go:
- The Great Southern Café: A charming downtown eatery offering a fusion of Southern and international flavors, with a friendly vibe and fresh ingredients—perfect for brunch, lunch, or dinner. Their food is delicious – from the fresh seafood to the cheesy grits!
- Bud & Alley’s Waterfront Restaurant & Roof Deck Bar: Iconic Gulf views plus a refined menu of coastal fare. Enjoy wood-fired pizza at the Pizza Bar or tacos at the Taco Bar—with a rooftop spot to sip cocktails at sunset. This place is large with lots of options for sit-down or casual style eating. The tacos are amazing as well as the pizza!
- The Daytrader: A local favorite praised for its fun atmosphere and varied menu—great for casual dinners! Fun cocktails (single or shareable) and never a bad meal! The decor is super cute and vibey!
- Shrimp Shack Boardwalk Bar: (at The Shrimp Shack): lobster rolls, fresh oysters, and shrimp! Cute, casual, walk up and go spot!
- Pickle’s Sandbar: Offering craft cocktails, beer, wine, and full‑service seating – perfect for sipping by the beach at sunset. Delicious burgers & shakes, fun vibe, and really cute merch! The best french fries too! The boys LOVE Pickle’s.
- Drome: This place JUST opened but it is a MUST VISIT!!! Everything on the menu is amazing, it’s family-oriented, and the owners are SO so nice.
- It’s Heavenly: An ice cream shop within Seaside nestled between shopping!
The Best Spot For Coffee & Baked Goods:
- BLACK BEAR! This is our favorite place for coffees and bakery items!! You can even buy a loaf of homemade sourdough. Bear Lattes and the almond croissants are our favories. They also have breakfast/lunch sandwiches and kids food. They’re open til 5pm most days in Seaside. The kids also love their sugar sprinkle cookies!
As for things to do in Seaside, there are so many! For waterfront ambiance and elevated coastal cuisine, go to Bud & Alley’s, Fish Out of Water, or Vue on 30A. For solid, local-favorite dinners, try Cafe 30A, Seagrove Village Market, or The Daytrader. For casual, weeknight or weekend meals, try Hurricane Oyster Bar, Shunk Gulley, and Surfing Deer!
In terms of shopping, Seaside has a ton to offer! There are so many cute shopping options for women, men, and kids! A few favorites include:
- Duckies: A whimsical kids-and-kids-at‑heart store filled with apparel, toys, beach gear, and fun novelty gifts – bright colors and good vibes galore. This is a SUPER cute store but it is tightly packed and filled with grabable items for kids – just be aware it may be hard to leave without buying anything if you have littles with you 🙂 The big ducky outside is super cute for photos!!
- Seaside Kids: A children’s boutique (with tees and gear themed around Seaside) catering to toddlers up through tweens in a lighthearted, playful atmosphere. If you’ve ever seen kids running around with the iconic “Seaside, FL” shirts or sweatshirts, this is the store for that!
- Sundog Books: A cozy independent bookstore offering carefully selected books – from regionally focused titles to fiction, children’s books, and local interest fare.
- Wood + Wave): A lifestyle shop showcasing women’s and men’s clothing, jewelry, accessories, and home décor with a laid-back coastal-meets-boho aesthetic.
- The Seaside Style: The town’s official lifestyle brand, offering comfortable tees, sweatshirts, accessories, home goods, kids’ items, and even dog apparel—all with Seaside’s signature palette.
- Cabana by The Seaside Style: My personal FAVORITE store!! A sister store to The Seaside Style, this beachside shop features breezy caftans, linens, vibrant prints, statement hats, and curated jewelry. They have the cutest, trendy, and on-style pieces.
- Looks Like Love Boutique: A stylish boutique carrying curated women’s clothing, shoes, pajamas & loungewear, and seasonal accessories. Located just off Central Square. They have the cutest exterior – feels like you’re in Paris!

Alys Beach
Alys Beach is less than a 10-minute drive from our beach rental (located in Inlet Beach)! It’s Known for Greek-like, med-inspired architecture. Everything is stone, white, and stunning against the blue skies and perfectly placed palms. This will be the most polished town of all! Many celebs have homes here as well due to their emphasis on privacy and community. Alys Beach is much more private than all the towns along 30a. You cannot drive or park your golf cart in Alys—you can drive through and down the 30A highway, but no parking. You can’t park at restaurants or shops, and the streets with homes located on them are all private. All of the beaches here are private, as well.
In terms of places to eat, Alys Beach does have a handful that are great! They include:
- George’s at Alys Beach: Upscale-casual spot serving regional coastal fare with global twists—think fresh seafood and organic produce, plus “behave” vs “misbehave” menu sections. No reservations (deck and lounge offered while waiting). Open daily for lunch (11 AM–3 PM) and dinner (5–9 PM) .
- The Citizen at Alys Beach: Really nice interiors, option to order at the bar and sit outside (self-service here), but they have cozy patio furniture/umbrellas. Coastal tavern featuring fresh seafood, wood-fired steaks, a raw oyster bar, and craft cocktails. Great place to sit at the bar for drinks & apps. The food is really good as well! Open daily: lunch/brunch (Wed–Sun 10 AM–2 PM), oyster happy hour (2–5 PM), dinner until 10pm. Reservations & walk in welcome!
- O‑ku Sushi: Sleek sushi restaurant offering modern Japanese cuisine—sushi, sashimi, nigiri—overlooking the Alys Beach amphitheater. Delicious sushi and miso cod dish!! Can’t go wrong with the menu here! I had the sugar and spice drink, rock shrimp, crispy rice, Chilean sea bass, and oceanside, blazing saddles, and firecracker rolls. All were sooo good.
- Raw & Juicy: Health-focused café offering organic smoothies, cold-pressed juices, fresh bowls, baked goods, and even beer and wine—in a bright, relaxed setting. Perfect spot for breakfast or a wholesome snack. The exterior is super cute for photos. There’s also a small park next door on the same property for kiddos (small slide, rock wall, hills). Must try their breakfast sandwich!!
- Fonville Press: Delicious spot for any food, coffee, cocktails… they have a little market inside too! Also super cute & vibey spot for photos.
The shopping in Aly’s Beach is amazing, too! They have many options for women, men, and kids. I have grabbed some of my favorite pieces in these shops! They include:

- KREWE Tiny House: A pop-up eyewear shop located in the Amphitheatre, carrying handcrafted, fashion-forward sunglasses from the New Orleans-based KREWE brand

Rosemary Beach
Rosemary Beach is the closest to our beach rental (Inlet Beach) with less than a 5 minute drive or a 15 minute walk! It’s a very picturesque town with a classic feel. Golf carts aren’t allowed here, with no driving or parking on private side streets. You can drive your cart through Rosemary Beach on the 30A highway, but cannot park. The beaches here are all private as well. There are a ton of areas to walk through and see here, and the classic Town Hall building is located here as well.
Rosemary Beach has a ton of amazing options for food! Many of the restaurants here have a cozy, casual, and laid-back vibe that we loved—they include:
- Gallion’s: Upscale-casual spot on Barrett Square serving contemporary Southern‑inspired small plates and seafood in an elegant atmosphere—perfect for date nights or family lunches. Cute outdoor patio spot in the heart of Rosemary!
- Pescado Seafood Grill & Rooftop Bar: Seafood-focused restaurant with indoor seating and a rooftop bar offering stunning Gulf views. Good spot to wait for a table.
